Hi buddy
 Ethyl chloride on reaction with potassium or sodium nitrite gives nitroethane as the major product. Dimethyl formamide (DMF) is used as solvent.

C2H5Cl + KNO2------>C2H5NO2 + KCl

(Small amount of ethyl nitrite (C2H5ONO (30%)) will also form)

Hope this helps
