phosphorus pentachloride it quickly turns red solid. phosphorus pentachloride reacts with moisture forming phosphoric v acid and hydrogen chloride fumes. the hydrogen chloride dissolves in the water on the litmus paper forming hydrochloric acid pure hydrogen chloride vapour is colorless.
