When rheo leaves will be boiled, it will shrink due to high temperature.
The solute content inside the leaves will come out due to osmosis at first while heating.
Further heating and boiling will destroy the cells.
Cells will be dead.
So, after addition of sugar syrup no more osmosis will take place.

1. Boiling Shall kill the rheo leaves and cells will be dead.
2. If a drop of sugar syrup is added nothing will happen as fluid cannot pass through dead cell membrane.
3. Hence dead leaves and cell do not undergo plasmolysis.
4. This observation shows that selective permeability is the property of living plasma.
