What happens when the heating element made of nichrome in an electric iron is replaced by a copper?

Hence current will not get converted to heat which is required in the heating coil . On the other hand , when a nichrome coil is used , its resistance being very high compared to copper , the current passed gets converted into the heat . That is why nichrome or kanthal coils are used for heating coil but not copper .
