when zinc is dropped in ferrous sulphate it forms zinc sulphate and iron is displaced by the zinc because zinc is more reactive than iron,
FeSO4+Zn ----- ZnSO4+Fe
and thus compound is formed zinc sulphate which is white powdery form in colour
