Acids will react with reactive metals, such as magnesium and zinc, to make a salt and hydrogen. The hydrogen causes bubbling during the reaction. It can be detected using a lighted splint, which causes the gas to burn with a squeaky pop.

Ballia277001: Shreya, metal oxides are not acids but they are bases. Hope you understand.
Shreya2002: Oh I got confused thanks for clarification

The elements magnesium, aluminium and iron are also considered as activemetals and they react with steam to produce oxides and hydrogen gas. ... Examples for metal-displacementreactions: Zinc can displace copper from copper sulphate solution and iron from ferrous sulphate solution.
