Harmful gases are released in atmosphere by burning of fossil fuels used in automobiles and industries. Some gases like sulphur dioxide and Nitrogen dioxide react with the water vapour and oxygen present in the atmosphere. This results in the formation of sulphuric acid and nitric acid respectively. These acids gets mixed with the rain and fall down as acid rain. It damages crops, aquatic plants, animals ,buildings and statues made up of marble and other metallic objects.
