what has been the effect of the chipko movement on people and the government

 the chipko movement originated from a remote village called "RENI" in garhwal high up in himalyas in 1970 the people of reni village does not want to cut down the forest near the village so when when the mens of houses were went out for work ......the womens fastly go and hug the trees to save them from the contractors  who were cutting the trees theirfore by seeing that people do not want that trees were cut our goverment leave this project and start conservation of trees.
