Gentleman's Agreement 1907-1908 between the United States and Japan helped to ease the tension between the two over segregation in California's School.
Many immigrants from Japan entered America and its is said 50 thousand Japanese immigrants entered California in 1904 which created anti-Japanese sentiment among public. So in 1906 California School Board legalized segregation of Japanese children from school system. It created public outrage in Japan and the situation between the two counties deteriorated. So both signed Gentleman's Agreement, under which US agreed not to bar further Japanese immigration while as japan agreed to deny passports for labors seeking to enter US.
