Oxytocin is known as the hormone that promotes feelings of love, bonding and well-being. It's even being tested as an anti-anxiety drug. But new research shows oxytocin also can cause emotional pain. If a social experience is negative or stressful, the hormone activates a part of the brain that intensifies the memory.

There is also a positive feedback involved in the milk-ejection reflex. When a baby sucks at the breast of its mother, the stimulation leads tooxytocin secretion into the blood, which then causes milk to be let down into the breast. Oxytocin is also released into the brain to helpstimulate further oxytocin secretion.

Thanx!
