When two or more than two ribosome joined together with each other they make a thread like structure with bonded proteins called polysomes. In polysomes, ribosome is connected with each other with the help of RNA strand that is being translated.

There are three types of ribosome:

- Free ribosome

- Cytoskeleton bound ribosome

- Membrane bound ribosome
