Discovery means to discover or recognise a thing which already exists.

Invention means creating something new which is not present anywhere with one's own ideas and experiments.

Difference between discovery and invention:
#  Discovery - we recognise the things which already exists.
For example: Vasco Da Gama discovered the sea route of India.
# Invention - creating something new which is not there.
For example: Thomas Alva Edision invented the electric bulb.
