Hey friend!

♦  To give saturated hydrocarbons. Unsaturated hydrocarbons add hydrogen in the presence of catalysts such as palladium or nikel, this process is called hydrogenation.

---> Its industrial appication is that it is used making vegetable ghee.

Hope it helps!

HYDROGENATION:
Hydrogenation is the addition of hydrogen
WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
It is used for the addition of hydrogen to the unsaturated hydrocarbons in presence of some catalysts (catalysts- are the substances which speed up the reaction , they are important cause some reactions may not even take place if they are not used)it is to give SATURATED HYDROCARBONS
INDUSTRIAL USES:
1)
it is used in hydrogenation of vegetable oils,
2.)
it is used to convert alkenes and aromatics into ....parrafins(saturated alkanes)
HOPE IT HELPS!!
