NADP reductase enzyme is located on the outer side of lamella or thylakoid of the chloroplast. This enzyme causes breakdown of proton gradient to release energy, i.e. NADPH. Along with electron that come from the acceptor of electrons of PSI protons are necessary for the reduction of NADP+ to NADPH + H+. These protons are also removed from the stroma.
