The play main showcases the difficulties faced by a mother and how much she wants to confront her family about this but is not strong enough for that. It’s clearly shown how the family disrespects the mother even though she works really hard,in fact they don’t help her with the work. The author wants to convey that how mothers are treated and taken for granted in the family but still she continues her work thinking that it’s her duty as it’s her family.

Answer:
The message conveyed by J. B. Priestly to the society through this play is that mothers are not maids. We should give them all the respect which they deserve. Mothers dignity should be maintained. We should not take them for granted. Their affection towards us should not be misunderstood as their weakness.
