The additional layer in plant cell is called cell wall. If animal cell has them that will make them stiff and they
can't any of the usual activities like
run or eat etc...

Plant cells have a cell wall of cellulose which is a rather stiff material. If animals had this, they would probably get around on little wheels! Could you imagine natural selection in a world where the entire animal kingdom was so incapacitated? Eventually those that could catch their prey would have a more flexible cell wall until reproduction of those exhibiting this would flourish to a point where the cell wall would dissapear. I was taught in biology that an organism can't advance genetically by regressing. As an example, whales can't eventually evolve by growing gills. The above, however, is quite different
