The Earth's atmosphere itself would also float off into space, for the same reason! ... However, things which are holding on to the Earth would eventually have problems too -- the Earth itself would most likely break apart into chunks and float off into space, since it is only held together by gravity also!

Without friction they'd be falling down and they wouldn't be able to hang onto the ball. Walking or standing would be impossible. The Only way to move without friction will be through force of reaction. ... For changing direction also we need to apply force to something in the opposite direction.
