Hello Kreetika!
The young girl Sudha had a heart made of gold! She was very caring, concerned about her grandma , a kind-hearted and understanding girl who understood the feelings of her grandmother very well. Unlike other children, who often prefer spending their times with children of their age and don't spend quality time with their grandparents, Sudha used to sit beside her grandmother and tell her the story of the "Kashi-Yatre" since her grandmother was illiterate and was unable to read on her own. She respected the old lady's sentiments and hence, decided to give her kannada lessons so that she could fulfil her wish of being able to read and write on her. She was the one who guided her grandmother and supported her to achieve her dream. She gave wings to her dreams and hence, played an important role as the only teacher in grandmother's entire life
The grandmother was a determined lady who vowed never to give up an oath which she had taken. She was ready to work hard to learn Kannada.. Although she was married off at an early age, as was the custom in those days, yet she realised the value of education, as she had never received formal education as a young girl. So, she ensured that her children and grandchildren were made to attend school. She was very loving and affectionate, She was emotional too and could relate with the main character of the Kasi-Yatre. She served as the master-chef of her family and served them delicious meals. Yet she was able to take out enough time from her busy schedule to do her studies. She, being a pious lady, kept saraswati pooja as the deadline to master the kannada language completely. Like an ideal student, she touched the feet of her young-teacher to seek her blessing regardless of her age. She expressed her gratitude to Sudha and gave her the guru-dakshina too.
