hey
here's your answer !!

by observing the electronic configuration of an atom,

it is possible to know ----->
( i ) whether will lose or gain electrons.
-- and from that it can be known that --
( ii ) if the number of electrons in its outermost shell is less than 4 then it can be concluded that the atom is of a metal.
if the number of electrons is equal to or more than 4 or less than 8 then the atom is that of a non metal.
is the number of electrons is equal to 8 then the atom is that of a noble gas.

hope it helps!!

Hello friend!
Here's your answer !!
From the electronic configuration we can know :
1) the atomic no by adding the configuration and from that no of protons and electrons and neutrons. Also we can know the mass no. from atomic no. We can also know the no.of electrons in all the shells of the atom.
2) the number of electrons in its valence shell and if it is less than four, then it( the element) is a metal and if the number of electrons is more than four or less than eight then the element is a non metal and if the number of electrons is eight then the element is a noble gas.
