Answer: Nelson Mandela could have easily opted for a comfortable life as he was a lawyer by profession. However the injustice meted out to the people of South Africa by the apartheid regime convinced him that the good of the people was above all personal consideration. He personally suffered a lot while fighting for the rights of his countrymen but it made him more stronger and at one point he was hailed as a role model for not only the people of South Africa but for all those across the world who believed in individual freedom and human dignity. His struggle though very painful   and tortuous never for once lured  him to lower his belief in the ultimate goodness of men. As a result he was respected equally by the white people along with his own fellow South Africans.History is witness to the fact that he did not discriminate against them who had opposed and oppressed his countrymen. He was able to fulfill his dream of a South Africa free from all discrimination and racial prejudices.
