 angle of contact. physics. : the angle between the meniscus and the containing walls of a column of liquid measured from the vertical wall below the surface of the liquid to the position of the tangent to the meniscus at its point of contact with the wall.

Answer:-

Angle of contact:- It is the angle inside the liquid between the tangential plane at the solid surface and liquid surface. Nature of the solid and liquid in contact are responsible for the angle of contact.

Explaination:-

Some effects on angle of contact:-

1. Temperature:- Temperature is inversely proportional to surface tension. It means when the temperature will increase the surface tension will decrease and vice-versa.

 \sf{ \cos θ_{c}} \propto \frac{1}{T}

2. Impurity:- It depends that how the impurity is if impurity will be soluble impurity then the surface tension will increase and if impurity is partially soluble then the surface tension will decrease.

3. Water proofing agent:- Presence of water proofing will increase the angle of the contact. Acute angle will change into obtuse angle if there will be effect of water proofing agent.
