what is a bad conductor of electricity however when used as electrodes in the process of electrolysis pencils are capable of conducting electricity why

this is because pencil is made up of wood and graphite. wood is an insulator so it will not conduct electricity. while graphite is a conductor so it will conduct electricity. that's why pencil conducts electricity.

In electrolysis process , graphite is often used....
similarly, the lead of pencils also contain graphite but in very less amount..
Thats why it can also be used for completing this phenomenon
