In acoustics, a beat is an interference pattern between two sounds of slightly different frequencies, perceived as a periodic variation in volume whose rate is the difference of the twofrequencies. When tuning instruments that can produce sustained tones, beats can be readily recognized.

YOUR ANSWER ---
if intensity of a sound is maximum at T = 0, 1beat is said to be formed when intensity becomes maximum once in between and the time interval between 2 successive beats is called beat period and number of beats so produced is called beat frequency.
