Answer:

What is Chemical Formula?

A chemical formula shows the elements that make up the compound and the numbers of atoms of each element in the smallest unit of that compound, be it a molecule or a formula unit.

The rule for writing chemical formula is as follow:

Firstly, write the symbols with positive charge valency first. Secondly, write the valency of each atom on the top of its symbol. Thirdly, divide the valency number by their highest common factor ignore the positive or negative radicle. Interchange the valency of the radicle. Lastly, write the interchanged valency number to the lower right of the radicle.

Answer:

A chemical formula shows the elements that make up the compound and the numbers of atoms of each element in the smallest unit of that compound, be it a molecule or a formula unit. Knowing the names of the elements and a few basic rules allows us to name simple compounds given the chemical formula.

The rules for writing a chemical formula are as follows:

The valencies or charges on the ion must balance.

When a compound consists of a metal and a non-metal, the name or symbol of the metal is written first. Whereas non-metals are written on the right.

In compounds formed with polyatomic ions, the ion is enclosed in a bracket before writing the number to indicate the ratio.
