The coefficients are the numbers that multiply the variables or letters. Thus in 5x + y - 7, 5 is a coefficient. It is the coefficient in the term 5x. Also the term y can be thought of as 1y so 1 is also a coefficient. Like terms are terms that contain the same variable raised to the same power.

Coefficient is defined as the magnitude or we can say numbers of that term.

For example:-

4x²

Coefficient of 4x² is 4
