here's your answer
In electric motor : Synchronous motors usually referred to as a damper winding because of it's additional property out any oscillation that might be caused by sudden changes of load on the rotor when in synchronism

Heya!!!!

Answer Of Your Question☺️

◆Damper Winding:-The Damper Winding Consists Of Circuited Copper Bars embedded In The Face Of The Rotor Poles.

○Reason Behind Using It:-

→When An AC Supply Is Provided To Stator Of A 3 Phase Synchronous Motor Stator Winding Produces Rotating Magnetic Field.Due To The Damper Winding Present In The Rotor Winding Of The Synchronous  Motor Machine Starts As Induction Motor.

Adjustment to load changes involves changes in the angle by which the rotor field lags the stator field and thus involves short-term changes in instantaneous speed, also known as Hunting. These cause currents to be induced in the damper windings, producing a torque that acts to oppose the speed change.
