Galvanometers which die the oscillations of the coil immediately is known as dead beat galvanometer

Explanation:

  • Galvanometer is used to measure the current through any conductor. Whenever current flows through the conductor, needle changes its position from mean position to give the readings then the needle oscillates for some time before coming to rest.
  • To make that needle come to rest instantly we use to wound the coil on a metallic frame to produce eddy currents in the coil, this eddy current helps the coil to come at rest immediately by doing so the beats of the galvanometer or reduced or minimized known as dying the beats hence the galvanometer is known as dead beat galvanometer
