Love is the spice of life. As without spice any cooked dish tastes insipid and bland, similarly life without love is hollow. It has been observed that relationships that are not nurtured and vitalized by love, wither and die away. Love is a divine emotion that makes the world appear as if it is paradise. However, its absence makes everything appear hell. Someone has very beautifully said:

'It is in loving, not being loved
  The heart finds its quest;
 It is in giving, not in getting
Our lives are blest.'

Different people have defined love in their own unique manners. Kahlil Gibran has very beautifully described love as:

‘When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

 Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.                                                                                                                                                     He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.’

Since love is a an elevating emotion, which lifts any man or woman to the level of an angel; man’s thoughts, feelings, actions, and words become very angelic in love. Any dialogue spoken under the spell of love is full of sweetness, divinity, care, and understanding. However, it must not be misunderstood as romantic love only. Love exists in all spheres of life. Mother’s love for her child, a mystic’s love for God, a friend’s love for his/her separated friend, prophet’s love for mankind, wise man’s love for wisdom, scientist’s love for science, writer’s love for books, love for career, love for one’s aim, love for nation, etc. are different shades of the same love.

Love is working as an engine to this world without it world will be finished. From God to humans and humans to animals love is there. God loves his creatures. Mother's love is also very much both in human beings and animals. Father also loves his children very much so works hard for their livelihood.
Love is a binding force in living things and if someone has no love in his heart it means he is dead.
