Diaphragm is a thin sheet under the lungs which goes down when we inhale and goes up when we exhale. It seperates abdomial cavity from thoracic cavity

The diaphragm is the primary muscle used in the process of inspiration, or inhalation. It is a dome-shaped sheet of muscle that is inserted into the lower ribs. Lying at the base of the thorax (chest), it separates the abdominal cavity from the thoracic cavity. This creates a vacuum effect that pulls air into the lungs. When we exhale, the diaphragm relaxes and the air is pushed out of lungs.
