What is digital certificate?
Digital certificate is a type of credential that authenticates the identity of a server. It is signed by a trusted third party that that ensures its validity. The one who signs the digital certificate is known as Certification Authority (CA).
The digital certificate includes the following information :-
- The name, E-mail address and the URL of the web server of the owner using the certificate.
- The owners public key.
- The name of the CA who issues the digital certificate.
- A serial number.
- Validity period.
- The digital signature of the CA to prevent any sort of tampering further.
