What is a geostationary satellite? State its uses.

An artificial satellite which revolves around the Earth in stable circular orbit in equatorial plane,having same direction and period of revolution as that of the rotation of the Earth about it's own axis is known as geostationary satellite.

Uses:
1. To send radio and TV signals from one place to long distance.
2. Its is also used for military purposes.
3. It recieves the signals from the transmitting centre,amplify it and sends back to Earth.
