Tiger Hill is located 11kms (6.8 miles) from Darjeeling town and above Ghum. It's the highest point in Darjeeling hills at an altitude of 8482 feet (or 2590 meters). The best season to see the dazzling snow covered peaks as the sun rises is between Mid October to December. March to April is also a good time.

Tiger hill was given its name because of 527 years ago when tigers roamed freely in wales. Once this hill was differnet to other hills. Different because it was in stripes.

A girl called Nevaeh was sat on the hill writing her story when she saw a sudden blur of orange and black, and, lo and behold sat next to her was a tiger. But was she scared? Of course she was! She wasn't used to it. But she didn't let her fears show and let the tiger lick her arm and giggled out loud. It felt so tickly!

As she gazed into the baby tigers eyes she felt entranced and years passed by with her living with tiger, her tiger which she named sanhoora. Sanhoora grew to love nevaeh and nevaeh loved sanhoora. Sanhoora defended her and she defended the tiger. People tried to kill it but she wouldn't let them.

One man was very clever. While the girl was shopping the man came along and hit the tiger in the eye with a poisened arrow. The girl heard her tigers scream and ran to it only to be poisened by its last breath. They both died and only thistles grow where they fell and died.
