Hey There @Lakshyasingh1491!

Operating System (OS) can be of two types based upon their User Interface(UI) into:

  • Graphical User Interface, and
  • Character User Interface.

But, before we discuss that, I'd like to tell you what an OS and UI means.

So, let's talk about OS.

An OS or Operating System is a system software that controls every working of a computer. It acts as a link between the hardware, software and the user. Some examples of OSs are Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, Google Android, Apple iOS and so on......

Now, What is a User Interface (UI)?

User Interface(UI) can be defined as the appearance of how the software looks in terms of buttons, images, textBoxes, Labels, etc....

Coming back to the topic, as told earlier, Operating System (OS) can be of two types based upon their User Interface(UI) into:

  • Graphical User Interface, and
  • Character User Interface.

What is a Graphical User Interface (GUI)?

Now-a-days, most OSs have GUI. This UI allows the user to drag-n-drop Objects, click, point, select and so on... to interact with the OS. The above given examples of OSs were all of GUI-based OS. Further, GUI is also divided into MetroUI, FlatUI etc.....but, we'll not go into so may details.

Hope it helps!
