The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a value-added tax levied on most goods and services sold for domestic consumption. The GST is paid by consumers, but it is remitted to the government by the businesses selling the goods and services. In effect, GST provides revenue for the government.

In earlier times, there were so many taxes like service tax, Dvat etc.
After GST came, this service tax, Dvat has stopped and the mix up of all this taxes are now called GST.

Goods and service tax. This form of tax system is useful because it brings uniform system of taxes for all the products across a country. Because of the implementation of GST some taxes on the particular products rise and some products price decrease
