Heterocrine glands are those glandswhich have both exocrine and endocrine part. Pancreas is calledheterocrine gland because it secretes the hormone insulin into blood which is an endocrine function and enzymes into digestive tract which is an exocrine function.

Answer

Heterocrine glands are the glands which has both the endocrine part as well as the exocrine part .

Explanation

Endocrine glands are the glands which secrete certain chemicals ( hormones ) directly into the blood stream .

The hormones secreted by the endocrine glands act as a catalyst in biochemical reactions .

The endocrine glands secretion if less is called hyposecretion and if it is more then it is called the hypersecretion .

The endocrine glands have ducts .

The exocrine glands are the glands which are ductless and they also secrete certain substances .

An example of heterocrine gland is Pancreas .

Pancreas secretes hormone insulin , glucagon and somatostatin .

It also secretes the pancreatic juice .

Hence it secretes enzymes into the digestive tract as well as hormones .

So it is heterocrine having both endocrine and exocrine functions .
