homologous series is a group of organic compound having similar structure and similar chemical properties in which successive compounds differ by CH2 group.
Characteristics of homologous series-
1. All the member of the home eluga series can be represented by by the same formula that is CnH2n+2.
2. The difference in the molecular masses of any two adjacent homologous is 14u.
3. Any two adjacent homologoues differ by 1 carbon atom and 2 hydrogen atom in their molecular formula.
4. All the compounds of homologues series shows similar chemical properties.

here is answer

homologous series.

homologous series may be defined as follows

a group of organic compounds containing a particular functional group is termed as homologous series.

a member of. homologous series is called a homologue.

characteristics.

1. all the members of homologous series can be described by a common general formula

2. each member of homologous series differs from its higher and lower neighbouring members by common difference of -CH2

3. all the members of homologous series shows similar chemical properties.

4. physical properties in a homologous series show a regular variation with an increase in molecular mass

hope it helps
