Kink is the bend present in the thermometer. It's present in the clinical thermometer. It's usage is to prevent to the Mercury from falling down or coming down. It's not present in the type of thermometer is in the science lab to test the chemical temperature. If kink is not there as soon as we remove the thermometer the temperature will come down and hence we won't be able to take correct measurement. Kink is an important part in clinical thermometer.
