A meteor is a small rocky or metallic body travelling through space, it is smaller than an asteroid, it is formed by the remaining parts of asteroids and the comets, it is called as space dust also. It is often called as a shooting star, as meteors while travelling in space sometimes get pulled by earth's gravity. They come in such a force that it causes friction and they burn up in the earth's atmosphere, the shiny light we see when a shooting star falls is actually the meteor falling and brning in such a force that we assume it as a star. Always, remember, a meteor which does not burn completely and lands and hits the earth's surface that huge craters are formed, is called as a meteorite.
