All halides have a -1 oxidation state in general but only Fluorine is limited to this oxidation state. The other halides show some other states as well because of presence of d-orbitals and also due to increase in atomic and ionic sizes. However, these states are shown only when the elements combine with elements which are more electro-negative than itself.
