A physical simply means change in the physical state of a substance. There is no change otherwise. A common example is the change physical state of water. Water when heated, turns into water vapour. But can still be converted to liquid state. So, a physical change just involves the external physical state of an object.
A physical change has many properties:-
- It is reversible. Since, it is only a change in physical state and chemically nothing is changed.
- No new substances are formed. Again, it's only changing in the physical state and there are no new substances formed.
- It is a temporary change, since its reversible. But a chemical change is permanent.
- The substance retains its chemical properties.
