A key which uniquely identifies a record is known as primary key
Suppose you have created a database. In the database under names field you have define a primary key and after defining it u are making a table in which u have enter a same name two times then it will ask you to change the name

a primary key is aunique key whicjh prevents your data getting repeated twise in a record
