What is a redox reaction? When a magnesium ribbon burns in air with a daz zling flame and forms a white ash, is magnesium oxidised or reduced? Why?

Redox reaction: the combination of both oxidation and reduction reactions.

2 Mg + O2 = 2MgO

Here magnesium is oxidized

This is oxidation reaction
