The word script has a Latin root, it has come from the word scrībĕre, meaning "to write". In other words, anything that is written can be included in the script. For instance, a play, a wedding toast etc.
The noun Manuscript emerged of the Latin menu scriptus means "Written by hand". Traditionally any record, report, or book written by hand is known as the Manuscript.
