A rechargeable battery, storage battery, secondary cell, or accumulator is a type of electrical battery which can be charged, discharged into a load, and recharged many times.

In the secondary cells, the reactions can be reversed by an external electrical energy source. Therefore, these cells can be recharged by passing electric current and used again and again. These are also celledstorage cells.

Examples of secondary cells are, lead storage battery and nickel – cadmium storage cell.

A secondary cell is a battery that is design to be used again and again and it recharged with electricity and reused and it is not like a primary cell (un rechargeable battery). In general, the electrochemical reaction occurring in the cell is reversible, rendering the cell rechargeable.
