The materials which act as conductors at high temperature and as insulators at low temperature are called semi conductors.
They allow electricity to pass through them partially.

What is semiconductor

Semiconductors are the substance whose electrical conductivity lies between that of conductors and insulators.

Properties of semiconductor :

➻ They are crysalline in nature

➻ They are tetravalent

➻ They have negative temperatures co-efficient of resistance (i. e. resistance of semiconductor decrease with increase in temperature).

➻ Conductivity of semiconductor can be increased by adding tetravalent or pentavalent impurity atoms
