When an object exceeds the speed of sound ..it is said to be travelling in SUPERSONIC SPEED..
The sound producing object..on travelling, vibrates and produces shock waves in air.. These shock waves are called as SONIC BOOM..
Sonic boom, due to its high frequency, even have the power to destroy buildings and break glasses...

The speed of an object which is greater than speed of sound is called sonic boom.
