Super Saiyan God is a technique earlier used by the saiyan on planet vegeta and planet sadala to defeat threats.It was later on achieved by goku and vegeta by a ritual in which five pure hearted saiyans had to transfer energy to another pure hearted saiyan.The saiyans who helped them were goku/vegeta,goten,gohan,trunks and Pregnant videl's daughter Pan.
In this transformation the user's hair goes pink and he also becomes thin which drastically improves his speed.
Goku achieved it to defeat the god of destruction of universe 7-Lord Beerus,but he failed to defeat him.It is shown in Dragon ball super movie Battle of gods and Dragon ball super episode "Thanks for waiting Lord Beerus!A super saiyan is born at last." for Goku and for Vegeta it was first shown in Dragon Ball Super movie Broly.
Whis later improved it and made a new SSJSS(super saiyan blue) which both improves the speed and attack.
