Synapse is defined as a small gap between the axon of one neuron and the dendrite of the next neuron.

When a nerve impulse reaches the end of an axon, the axon releases chemicals called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters travel across the synapse between the axon and the dendrite of the next neuron. Neurotransmitters bind to the membrane of the dendrite.

synapse is the gap between the the nerve ending and dendrite

nerve impulses travel over synapse as when they reach here electrical signal is converted into chemical signal and again when they reach next dendrite change back to electrical signal

hope it helps u ........mate
