it is a type of wave in which the wave occurs at right angles to the direction of energy transfer.

A wave which propagates in a direction perpendicular to the direction of vibration of the particle is known as transverse wave...this wave can be polarised.... one crest and one trough constitute one wave.. eg- electromagnetic wave.
