the spectrum of radiations emitted by a substance that has absorbed energy
absorption spectra--
when white light from a source is first passed through a solution of a chemical substance ,then radiation of a particular wavelength is abrorbed by solution depending upon nature of solution. now light coming out of the solution is analysed by spectroscope,we get some dark lines or dark band . which shows it is discontinuous in nature
